In the local paper, there was a suggestion to just draw a face on your pumpkin and shine a flashlight on it on Hallowe'en night--for the sake of safety. Is it just me who thinks the parenting pundits are so overly concerned about safety that they don't let people live?

It's not just you. The whole point of a jack o lantern is carving it. Drawing a face instead is lame!
By the way, these are our Hallowe'en pumpkins, carved as an FHE activity last night.
